Take the pun literally, and post it.

A pair of proper dark bamboo socks, wrapped in a printed band carrying your gag and flat-packed so they go through the letterbox rather than sitting at a depot. This is the campaign Breakthrough came out of: risk directors were being emailed to death about a regulation the whole sector had nicknamed UK SOX, so we posted them actual socks with a printed letter explaining the joke. If your market has an acronym everyone is sick of reading, this is how you say it out loud.

The Handwritten Letter

The last person who wrote to them was their nan.

Real ink on heavy cotton paper, written by an actual human hand, closed with a wax seal they have to break themselves. It arrives looking like a wedding invitation in a stack of window envelopes, so it gets opened first and read slowly. Best when you want warmth and credibility rather than a laugh.

A small framed jigsaw, assembled and glued, with one piece deliberately absent — and the missing piece is in your pocket, not the parcel. They see the gap immediately, read the card, and know the only way to complete it is to put half an hour in the diary. It's the most quietly persuasive thing we post.
